Summer Youth Program

The BSU Summer Youth Program has been offering sport and physical activity opportunities for youth for over 30 years. Our goal since the beginning has been to provide youngsters with an affordable opportunity to learn new sport skills and improve upon those they bring to each class. We strive to make all class experiences enjoyable and rewarding for youth. Sport science research indicates that when conducted in an appropriate manner, children achieve numerous positive outcomes while learning to shoot a basketball, serve a racquetball, or reach the top of a climbing wall. They gain experience in caring, sharing, competing, and cooperating. They learn to be responsible and share responsibility, to lead and to follow, to face and overcome challenges, to handle success and to overcome failure.

Boise State Summer Youth Program General Description

The Boise State Summer Youth Program is not a sport specific program for elite athletes.  There are numerous sport specific camps in the Boise area that cater to the needs of elite athletes.  This program is designed to teach children the knowledge and skills needed for them to successfully engage in a variety of physical activities.  This does not mean they will not be challenged to grow in their skill abilities, but that elite performance is not the goal.

Each Boise State Summer Youth Class Will:

  • Teach to the skill level of every child
  • Strive to help each child find success in whatever activities they engage in
  • Teach basic through intermediate skills and knowledge in the class content
  • Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for all children
  • Encourage outstanding attitudes in every child
