Sports First Aid and Injury Managment
Dr. Ronald Pfeiffer, LAT, ATC, Dept. Chair, continues to publish textbooks in the general field of sports injury care. The most recent title is Sports First Aid and Injury Managment, published in cooperation with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), published by Jones & Bartlett, Inc., and is co-authored with Alton Thygerson and Nicholas F. Palmieri. The book is targeted towards youth sport coaches and outlines care and prevention strategies for 18 different sports. The other title that is now in it's 5th edition is Concepts of Athletic Training, co-authored with Brent C. Mangus, and has been in print since 1995. This latest edition represents over a decade of evolution and revision of the previous editions in an effort to better serve students considering careers as athletic trainers, K-12 physical educators, or coaches. Key concepts pertaining to the field of athletic training are presented in a comprehensive, logically sequential manner that will assist future professionals in making the correct decisions when confronted with an activity-related injury or illness in their scope of practice. This book is also published by Jones & Bartlett, Inc. of Boston, MA.
