No outdoor and adventure curriculum is complete without survival and camping skills.   In this section you will learn basic outdoor survival skills, as well as how to camp in comfort.  This unit is very popular with school age children. 

Survival Topics covered:

  1. Lost and found
  2. What's most important
  3. Keeping warm or cool
  4. Finding, conserving, and making water
  5. Shelter
  6. Fire starting (liability issues discussed)
  7. Survival kits

*Notice that food is not mentioned!  Rats! 

Backpacking & Camping Skills:

  1. Sleeping (Princess and the pea & silk sheets on a hill)
  2. Packing / supplies
  3. Cooking and keeping the critters out of your food
  4. First aid
  5. Finding your way (Orienteering)
