KINES-500 Functional Anatomy

  Description:  Functional Anatomy.  The primary focus of this course is on gross anatomy of the extremities and trunk, with emphasis on arthrology, myology and peripheral neurology.  An emphasis will be placed on joint structure & function along with etiology and pathomechanics of common sports and activity related injuries.  The laboratory component of the class will utilize prosections of  human cadavers, as well as, MRI/CT imaging and sEMG demonstrations.  Anatomic structure will be discussed from both a clinical and kinesiological perspective.

Target Audience:  This course is intended for of all students pursuing the Biophysical emphasis in the Master of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Studies.  It also serves as a popular elective course for pre-professional students, i.e., pre-medicine, pre-chiropractic, and pre-physical therapy.
